The Sheldrick's waterfall: a safari attraction in Shimba
Hills reserve
The sable antelope endemic
You will be picked up from your Mombasa
hotel by our safari driver guide and drive to Shimba Hills
National reserve. You will then drive to Likoni where you will
cross the Likoni channel by ferry to get to the mainland, South
Coast. You will drive through cashew nuts and palm tree
plantations and also get an insight into the lifestyle of the
local people. Game viewing will begin as soon as you enter
Shimba Hills National Reserve where you will see some wildlife
among them elephant, buffalo, the endangered sable antelope
(endemic to this park) you will also have a chance to observe
the flora and fauna of the tropical rainforest. You will also
visit the Sheldrick falls by foot – you will go down the hill; a
45 minutes gentle walk takes you to the breathtaking spectacular
fall. Watch water splashing atop a cliff 30 meters high and the
water forms a natural pool - this is a fitness exercise and its
recommended for the physically fit people.
Drive through the park to Shimba lodge. A ‘tree’ lodge built on
stilts, with walk ways above the ground, overlooking a waterhole
and salt lick in a forest glade, Shimba Hills Lodge provides a
perfect spot to watch the creatures of the wild.
After lunch you will go for another game drive and thereafter
leave for Mombasa where you will be dropped at your Mombasa
hotel
