The Mombasa City tour (Excursion) is highly
recommended to visitors upon their arrival or after they have
gone on safari. The half day Mombasa city tour is a short and
pleasant tour on the island of Mombasa Kenya; travel back
through thousands of years with a visit to Fort Jesus, old
fortress built by the Portuguese to protect their trade with
India. You will also take a walk to the old dhow harbor where
you may see the traditional Arabic dhows at the docks. Down the
Old Port, you might see the Arab dhows that have sailed from
Arabia by Monsoon Winds carrying their wares just as they did
thousands of years ago.
From here, you will
meander through the narrow streets of the Old Town, past
beautiful carved doors and balconies, mosques and shops, selling
antiques and all sorts of craft work. Then drive past Mombasa’s
State House, Kilindini Harbor, the giant “elephant tusks”
(commemorating the Royal visit of Princess Margaret in 1957),
before visiting one of the most decorated Hindu temples.
You will then have a short ride through the center of the town,
and through the Makupa course way drive to Mombasa's Western
Mainland and on to Akamba wood carving factory where there
are about two thousand wood carvers. Here, filming/photographing
is allowed. Later visit the biggest wood curving show room,
where you have hassle free. shopping. From Akamba drive to
